What do Krispy Kreme donuts, Lifepointe Church, and Christmas Eve have in common?! This year, they are part of an incredibly fun and simple way to go be Jesus in your world! After each of our Christmas Eve services, we are going to have boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts available for you to take and use to show love and appreciation to someone that may be overlooked on Christmas Eve! We will have cards with drop-off destinations – including convenience stores, fast food restaurants, Waffle House, urgent care centers, hotels, etc. We want you to grab a box (or two) and make a delivery after whichever Christmas Eve service you attend. You don’t have to have a long conversation – just show Christ’s love by saying thanks for working on Christmas Eve and let them know that God loves them (and so do we)! So grab your family, small group, or friends, a box of donuts, a few Lifepointe invite cards, and make someone’s day a little brighter on Christmas Eve!

As of right now, we are planning on 50 boxes of a dozen donuts. We’d love for you to “claim” a box (or two or five) now if you know for sure you are going to participate…and we will order more if needed!! Also, please let us know if you have any suggestions of specific places for us to take donuts that you know will be open on Christmas Eve (e.g. in your part of town). You can claim boxes by emailing lifepointe@lifepointelville.com or on our facebook page.

And please, share your stories about this experience on our facebook page!

Hey!

7 baptized last Sunday! We are so proud of those acknowledging their faith in Christ; great job! This Sunday is Communion Sunday in both services. Communion services historically for us have been some of our best! December 24th we will have 3 Christmas Eve services: 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., & 3:00 p.m.! Please sign up for the one you plan to attend and bring people to.

This year we aren’t doing a Christmas mailer. If it wins, as it has in the past, it will be God using us to get people here! No big sales pitches or guilt trips on this end; just a strong belief in God’s ability to use you if you let Him! I personally am cashing in promises to come out “sometime” as the sometime, and also relational chips I have built up with people. I hope you will too, and not let this amazing opportunity be squandered by fear, busyness, or self (deprecation, preoccupation, absorption, or loathing). We can’t bring a move of God but we can prepare for one. Let’s get ready!

I mentioned our year end offering 2 weeks ago…it’s an offering we are asking everyone to invest in at some level. Never given? Let this be your first. Occasionally give? Let this be the offering that kicks off consistent giving in your life. Consistent giver? How about your normal offering being an offering and you move to biblical giving and begin tithing?! Biblical giver? You tithe (and by tithe it’s biblical: 10% of your earned income. I’m usually “encouraged” by other tithers to clarify that:)? How about giving above your tithe and giving an offering? Crystal and I are doing this one. I get paid tomorrow so my tithe will be in there this Sunday, along with our year-end offering. I’m giving my year-end offering this week because after speaking at 3 services on Christmas Eve, I’ll be lucky to remember my car without help! The year-end offering is going to help jumpstart our year with improved kids room and a new campus in Jeff’. I’m not asking you to give to “needs;” nobody gets motivated much by those. But the next 250 people God saves at Lifepointe will be directly connected to our kid’s ministry at this campus (I was reminded of that at my son’s first grade program).

People are dying without Christ and doors are beginning to open for us to help them find Christ. We won’t wait, give nods of approval to avoidance, or help people feel better that pass on mission. We will pray more, love more, equip more, listen more, risk more, weep more, serve people more, and connect around growth and mission more! These have already begun!

Alright, I close this Britannica with this: If you are moving forward with Jesus keep moving! If you are hurting and stalled, let Him heal you. If you are frustrated, tell Him with what and give it to Him. If you are grieving, let Him come in and be close to you. If you are lonely, ask Him to help you be around other people. If you are overwhelmed, ask Him for rest and peace. If you are controlling, ask for strength to release your death grip. If you are avoiding, give Him your fear.

God loves you for you. He knew your story before it was written; and He still is crazy about you and can partner with you!

Peace, love, and laughs from my desk to you!
Jamey

Baptism

You might be wondering what all this talk about our upcoming baptism is all about. Maybe you’ve been a Christ-follower for years, but have never been baptized. Maybe you were baptized as an infant and you’re not sure if that “counts.” Maybe you are new to your faith and are considering baptism, but still have some questions.

Wherever you’re at or whatever your questions, I hope I can provide some clarity and answers.

We believe baptism by immersion is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. It is also an outward expression of your commitment to him and your salvation, demonstrating that you have a personal relationship with Christ. While we do not believe it to be a requirement for salvation, the Bible does command us to be baptized once we have been saved. The New Testament if full of stories of people getting saved and then getting baptized. Thus, we think that everyone who has put their faith in Christ should be baptized by immersion. If you were baptized as a baby or before you truly become a Christ-follower, we encourage you to get baptized again! This is not meant to dishonor your past, but is simply following the Biblical pattern established by Christ.

Related verses: Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41; Ephesians 2: 8-9; Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:4; Acts 8:12

Baptisms are a beautiful way to show the world the decision we have made and to demonstrate love and obedience to Christ! This is why we make baptisms a party at Lifepointe! We want to celebrate with you and are so excited for you to be moving forward in your faith.

We will be baptizing during the end of each service this Sunday (12/11/11). If you would like to get baptized, please let us know which service you will be attending. Children and youth are welcome to get baptized (with their parent’s permission), though we do request that they speak to one of our children’s or youth workers beforehand (this can happen on Sunday before the baptism).

Feel free to contact us with any questions or for further information!

Who has made a difference in your life in the past? Is there a teacher, mentor, youth pastor, counselor, parent, friend that made a positive impact on your life? Someone that helped you through a hard time or helped you to grow in your faith? We often never know the impact we have on someone’s life. It can be an incredible blessing for someone to come back later and let us know we made a difference. So today, send a note, pick up the phone, or get on Facebook and say thanks to one of those people.

It could also be giving a compliment, giving your time (whether to simply call a friend, having an open ear for someone who needs to talk, or volunteering), or simply giving a smile. Want a bigger challenge? Do this every day for the next week. Or month. Or year. Let’s make it a habit to give things away and not to cling so tightly to our own interests and possessions.

God has given us so much, especially compared to the poor in other countries. There are millions of people living in desperate poverty around the world. The Bible repeatedly calls us to take care of the poor. Look for a way today to be a part of that. There are dozens of organizations involved in efforts to care for the poor. One example is Compassion International. They seek not only to meet physical needs, but to introduce people to Jesus Christ. You can get involved by sponsoring a child, sending a one-time donation to meet a critical need, or supporting efforts of the Child Survival program to care for mothers and children. You can also check out their Christmas catalog, which allows you to provide a child or family with anything from a goat to school supplies to access to clean water!

Today’s challenge builds on the one from day 2. Begin giving thanks daily. At the end of each day, look back and identify things for which you are grateful that. You might come up with as many as you can in five minutes or come up with at least 5 (or 10 or 20) each night. Start a gratitude journal or keep a list on your phone. Get in the habit of offering thanks to God each day for specific things. Take note of how this begins to change your heart, your attitude, and your outlook!

Count your blessings…it’s a common phrase, but have you ever actually done this? Have you counted your blessings? Today’s challenge is to come up with a list of things for which you are grateful. Be specific! We often focus so much energy on what we don’t have or comparing ourselves to others, that we miss all of the blessings God has given us. So take a few minutes, grab some paper (or your phone or white board or post-it notes…) and count your blessings. You may be surprised at what you come up with! Once you’ve created your list, give thanks to God…and ask him to help you to remember to be grateful.

Added twist: Make this a family activity! Go around the dinner table and take turns listing things for which each person is thankful (each thing can only be mentioned once). Children are great at this!
